We assist communities in identifying and implementing sustainable solutions to improve their environment and living conditions through a participatory and inclusive approach. We emphasize local governance, focusing on (transparency, participation, and accountability) To this end, our teams collaborate with sectoral ministries (e.g., Ministry of Decentralization and Local Development, Ministry of Economy and Planning), decentralized local authorities, communities, and technical and financial partners to plan, implement, and evaluate development initiatives.
RIDEV acts to prevent and address Gender-Based Violence (GBV), which is often exacerbated by changing dynamics within communities linked to development projects. We mobilize populations through awareness campaigns and tailored training sessions, promoting a holistic, victim-centered approach. Our method focuses on active prevention, supporting survivors, and strengthening the capacities of local actors. RIDEV works with communities to create safe, inclusive environments where every individual can live with dignity, free from violence and discrimination.
Violent extremism is on the rise in Cameroon, affecting regions like the Far North, North, Adamawa, and South-West, which are already burdened by high poverty levels. The influx of internally displaced persons places immense pressure on limited resources, exacerbating instability. Since 2014, RIDEV has been active in the Far North, supporting communities affected by Boko Haram’s violence. The organization strengthens community resilience to security crises, natural disasters, and climate change. Through innovative approaches, RIDEV promotes development and inclusion to help populations overcome these complex challenges.
